Meanwhile, back at school, our two Reception class eco warriors arrived back from their school trip to greet Mr William Stonor, who was delivering our prize Christmas tree- freshly cut down at Christmas Common this morning! Thankyou to all those at Stonor for holding the scarecrow competition and for awarding us this beautiful tree as a prize- next job- untangling the fairy lights! Stonor Park & Gardens ... The eco team climbed the huge hill to Spinfield this afternoon for an eco forum. They were joined by other eco teams from schools in Marlow to discuss ideas about how we can work together to be more ‘eco’. We shared some of our eco pledges and the fantastic work we already do. The leaf pledges on our tree added together with the other school pledges totalled 1633 which is fantastic! That’s 1633 people promising to change one thing to help the environment! They were also joined by Town councillor Mrs Towns and Phil Irving who both form part of the environment team on Marlow Town Council. They were able to tell us about exciting changes that are being made in Marlow. Including the refill water stations that are going to be set up in the town centre. If you see a shop with the sticker seen in the pictures below then you can also refill there. There will be a new banner going up over Spittal Street to ask people not to ‘idle’ in their cars when waiting in traffic and instead turn engines off. The town councillors took away lots of the children’s ideas to work on too. We are going to write to Wycombe District Council to ask that we see recycling bins in the town and parks, and will be designing certificates that could be awarded to local shops that are making changes to help the environment. Parents- be prepared to be pestered...our children are the ones who are coming up with the ideas to help save our planet and we must listen! ‘Pester power’ is real! No one is too small to make a difference. ... See MoreSee Less
